Mukti (salvation) in Hinduism means the release of the soul from the cycle of birth and death. This is the ultimate goal that every soul wants to achieve. In Hinduism, worldly life is considered a temporary and painful state, and salvation is the means to be free from this suffering and ignorance.
Tattvik Meaning of Moksha:
Moksha means "liberation" or "freedom". This freedom is not related to the body and mind, but to the liberation of the soul. According to Hinduism, every living being has to take rebirth in the world based on the karma. After attaining salvation, the soul is freed from this cycle of birth and death and becomes one with the Supreme Being.
Means of attaining salvation:
Hinduism describes various means of attaining salvation, which are divided into four major paths:
Jnana Yoga: This path is to attain self-realization through knowledge and discretion. In this, a person has to understand the difference between the soul and the body.
Bhakti Yoga: In this path, a person surrenders and loves God completely. Through devotion, he achieves oneness with God.
Karma Yoga: The path of Karma Yoga is based on doing nishkam karma i.e. work without any desire for fruit. By doing this, a person becomes free from the bondages of his karma.
Raj Yoga: This path is based on meditation and self-control. In this, a person achieves self-realization through mental and physical discipline.
Importance of Moksha:
In Hinduism, Moksha is considered to be the highest state of the soul. It frees a person from worldly bondages, illusions, and sufferings. After attaining Moksha, the soul is freed from the process of rebirth and merges with the cosmic consciousness or Paramatma.
Conclusion:
Moksha is the final and supreme state of the soul in Hinduism, where it gets freedom from the cycle of worldly birth and death. To achieve this, a person has to follow one or more of the four paths. Attaining salvation is the ultimate goal of life and without it the soul cannot find true peace.
